Marketing Makeover Challenge

3rd Annual Emerge Marketing Makeover Challenge
March 29th, 2022 @ 4:00 P.M. - 6:30 P.M.

The Marketing Makeover Challenge tasks fourth-year Media Business students to work with an external client to create a response to a presented business challenge.

This year we have six teams comprised of four to five students working with one of four different clients. Teams will create a real-world, multi-platform marketing communications plan to be presented live to the client, judges panel, and audience.

Challenge
Our group’s challenge is to develop ways to leverage the awards ceremony to build awareness of the University of Guelph-Humber’s media and communication studies program.

Our Client
The Emerge Media Awards (EMAs) are sponsored and hosted by the University of Guelph-Humber in Toronto to celebrate and showcase the achievements of Canadian post-secondary students in journalism, photography, graphic design and communications disciplines. The EMAs deserve to be recognized at a national level, and in order to inspire that recognition we need to focus on increasing the EMAs’ prestige and proving the value it brings to UofGH students and the broader community. The EMAs present a unique opportunity for students across Canada to demonstrate their skills and abilities in the media sphere. It takes a massive effort to produce the EMAs yearly, which is why our team has been tasked with answering the question: “How can the EMAs work better for the UofGH community?” When an awards ceremony has prestige, it demands attention from participants and the media who wish to cover it. Through our campaign, the EMAs value and full benefits will be realized.
