What is Emerge?
Emerge 2022 is a two-day conference produced by students, for students interested in media. The Media Reset will take a deeper look into how media and communications, and media careers, have changed and evolved. Especially throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, and the various and ever-changing ways media is consumed. The two-day conference (March 29 – 30, 2022) will include in-person as well as virtual sessions, with must-see guest speakers, hands-on workshops and interactive opportunities.
The conference – as well as a print magazine, web magazine, Instazine and visual showcase – all comprise a multi-faceted capstone project by students in the Media and Communication Studies program at the University of Guelph-Humber

Emerge is a multi-faceted capstone project run by students in the Media and Communication Studies program at the University of Guelph-Humber. It consists of a two-day conference including speakers and a variety of interactive and engaging sessions. Emerge also features a print magazine, online magazine, Instazine and visual showcase.

The conference is free but registration is required.
The Emerge conference will be held in-person on March 29 and virtually on March 30, 2022. The in-person event will be held at the Barrett Centre for Technology Innovation, on the Humber College campus at 205 Humber College Blvd., Toronto.
Yes, the Barrett Centre for Technology Innovation (BCTI) is conveniently located directly in front of the Humber College Bus Terminal. This terminal connects with Brampton Transit, MiWay, and the TTC.
Doors open at 9 a.m.
The in-person sessions of the conference will be live streamed with the exception of the hands-on workshops.
The event is open to high school students and faculty as well as students’ parents but we welcome anyone with a strong interest in the media industry!
All attendees at the in-person sessions must be fully vaccinated and must provide proof of vaccination before entering the conference. Additional information will be provided to guests registering for the in-person sessions.
