Hey gang, that’s right, it’s Matt again with some more exciting news about Emerge: The Media Reset. Today, I’m here to talk to you guys about an exciting session at the conference this year.

As you may have inferred by the title of this blog, I am talking about the “How-To” sessions. I have not doubt that you’re asking yourselves…

What is it?

The “How To” workshops consist of two sessions hosted by professionals in different fields in the media. The aim of the sessions are to highlight issues in the media, and provide tools and tactics to address them. As I said before, the event will have two sessions: “How To be a Female Storyteller,” and “How to Make a Change.”

How to be a Female Storyteller

“In an industry where males have dominated the field, women in media are confidently starting to reclaim their space, becoming their own bosses and creating success stories that captivate audiences. Sonya Denton will be talking about her experience in media and teaching the next generation about creating triumphant stories.”

This session is hosted by Sonya Denton, founder and CEO of WeDstll. Launched in 2018, WeDstll is a community platform where people connect with beauty and wellness brands to purchase products that align with their values.

Here is a link to an article about Sonya, where you can learn about Sonya, from Sonya herself.

How to Make a Change

The next session that I want to tell you all about is “How to Make a Change.” This session will be hosted by Swabir Shariff, founder and CEO of The Good Guides. The Good Guides is a non-profit organization based in Toronto that works with vulnerable populations. Their goal is to help them make positive changes in their lives and communities.

The aim of the session is to show students considering MCS how the media can be used to inspire change, no matter what specialization they may choose.

In addition, I am also going to provide you guys with this link to an article from Toronto.com that highlights The Good Guides and who they are.

“So what Matt? What’s in it for me?”

Well let me tell you! These workshops will show you, the future of media, some of the essential tools that you would be using in the media. Plus, you never know, you may want to work in one of the industries that our distinguished guests are part of!

With that said, I do not want to dwell too much on these workshops because I want all of you to hear what Sonya and Swabir have to say directly from them! The “How To” workshops are taking place on Wednesday, March 30. 2022 from 12:35 to 1:35 p.m on Zoom.

I am looking forward to seeing all of your faces through my screen that day!

Until then, stay safe and stay curious.
