“Why is the sky blue?”

“How often do you fill up your gas tank?” “Who is your favourite professor at Guelph-Humber?” “How much does your outfit cost head to toe?” “What is your go-to Starbucks drink?”

University of Guelph-Humber students answer these burning questions and more during this week’s pop-up interviews with your Emerge hosts. That’s right – I said hosts! After months of searching, we have finally secured not only one, but TWO stellar student hosts for Emerge: The Media Reset.

Aliyah & Abby, your Emerge 2022: The Media Reset Hosts

Meet your hosts

This year the Emerge hosts both come from the Public Relations specialization in the Media and Communication Studies program at the University of Guelph-Humber. First, we have Aliyah Jhirad, a fourth-year PR student and the team lead for Emerge’s TikTok: In Front and Behind the FYP session. And our second host is Abby Zalewski (me!), a fourth-year PR student and member of Emerge’s Writing and Editing team.

Aliyah and I are so excited and honoured to be hosting Emerge together this year. We have been close friends our entire time at GH, and it feels great to end our journeys on the Emerge stage together.

And don’t forget, this will be the first year EVER that Emerge has had a female host, let alone two! We are so proud to represent the ladies and hope to inspire future female Emerge hosts to come forward.

“Do you have a minute to answer a question?”

Last week Aliyah, Emerge’s video production team and I took to the halls of Guelph-Humber to do some pop-up interviews.

Check out EmergeTO’s YouTube and TikTok to see what Guelph-Humber students think about their professors, characters on the show Friends, and the slowness of the GH elevator (someone mentioned selling fast passes – we need to get on that).

Tune in to find out to find out what current students consider essentials in their GH “starter-packs” and see who thinks Drake is the most over-rated Canadian artist – I feel like it’s a sin to all Canadians to even type that…

Here it is! Give the video a like and us a follow.

As always, thanks for reading, and I’ll see you next time.

Abby, signing off.
